A Vibrant City can be an exciting life for some people. I have lived in San Francisco,
New York City and Philadelphia.
I was young at the time and it was a wonderful experience for me.
The main concerns I found are safety and cost.
Suburban living started with Levittown after WWII the first two developments were in New York and Pennsylvania 1947 to 1958
Since then, Suburban Living has become the new normal for development.
Rural Living was the main alternative to living in City Centers. It is still very popular especially for farming, ranching and small-town community.
Gated Communities offer a little more security than most communities these days. There are usually restrictive covenants and HOA dues.
For some it is a preferred choice.
Locally, Crystal Park, Garden of the Gods and a few others would be "Gated Communities"
Locally Village life would be "Manitou Springs". Manitou has become much more expensive, and busy with year-round tourist.
I remember $150.00 rent, $5.00 breakfast included tip, horses still rode down Colorado Ave. and free parking. Those days are gone.
Fiona, The Mae and others are high rise communities in Downtown Colorado Springs that offer many amenities that expand your life way beyond the walls of your apartment.
They can be pricey and restrictions
